Math class uses to learn about maps

Functional math class map project

Students in a functional math class in Long Beach, California are learning about maps. Not only have they painted rocks that will be found and unexpectedly brighten someone’s day, their rocks have IDs from and they’ll be able to see on a map where their rocks travel and how far. What a fun way to learn about and discover new places.

Their creations feature some encouraging words and fun designs and we’re looking forward to seeing where they travel!

Welcome new members!

This week’s new GoRock members are from all over the world –   🇺🇸 the United States (Virginia, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Indiana and California), 🇫🇷 France and 🇦🇺 Australia. We are enjoying the rock creations you’ve added to and can’t wait to see where they will travel!

Rock spotlight

This minion started its journey in November in Australia. It then traveled all the way to the UK in December. It has now been found in Canada. It’s traveled over 13,400 miles (that’s 21,600 kilometers!)

This is one minion who’s really on the move! Where will he end up next!?

Speaking of minions, this one was found by a 5-year old boy. He was thrilled to find it!

“Hey my name is Emmett and I am 5. I was shopping with my dad and just looked down and found this rock next to a pole. When I read the message I Love you, it made me very happy.”

And, sometimes a rock really speaks to someone – almost as if the rock sought out that particular person.

As we do every Friday, we’re featuring rocks from our GoRock members. Be inspired and paint some of your own rocks!

Once again, we have so many new rocks that have been painted and added to – too many to individually feature here. Here are some of our favorites! (See them all here).

Nice work painters! Smile knowing your rocks are out there unexpectedly brightening someone else’s day.

We’ll be out of the office, so we won’t be publishing a Weekly Insider for next week. But, we’ll still be checking out all the fun creations you add to the site and will make sure to feature some of our favorites the following week.

💠Stay tuned to our Facebook, Twitter and Instagram to see our rock drops!
