Easy rock painting ideas for the month of May
GoRock.com offers the following ideas for your painted rocks with easy designs such as words of encouragement and kindness, cute rock painting ideas like a strawberry or ice cream cone and for more advanced rock painting, designs like silhouette or mandala.
Bring out the painted rock paint pens!
Sometimes you don't want to break out all the rock painting supplies such as acrylic paints, brushes and palettes. That's when paint pens, like these Posca fine point paint pen markers make rock painting a breeze! They come in a variety of colors, are water-based and non-toxic and dry quickly. Simply draw your design and once your painted rock is dry, brush on a thin coat of water-based acrylic varnish. We like Duraclear varnish to seal our rocks because it can be used indoors (no smelly fumes), it dries quickly and with a nice glossy finish and it holds up well to outdoor elements (after all, our painted rocks are going to travel!)
After you've painted your rock, get an ID from GoRock.com so you can be notified when your painted rock is found and see on a map where your painted rocks are traveling and spreading kindness.
When someone finds your painted rock, they'll indicate where they found it, which updates your painted rock's map (a journey of where it has traveled and spread kindness). You and the rock finder will get to see this map.
And, the rock finder can leave you a message (like this fun message), letting you know how finding your rock really made their day. It's amazing to read the heartwarming stories from rock finders. Rock painters smile knowing their painted rock was the ultimate random act of kindness.
Paying it forward, one painted rock at a time.
